Your official source for local forecasts, severe weather watches, and warnings. The Pueblo office covers our area, so this is the place to check before storms, high winds, or extreme heat — and the first place to look when a tornado or severe thunderstorm warning is issued nearby. Bookmark it during spring and summer storm season.
The official word on current fire restrictions for our county. Fire danger here changes often, and the county moves between Stage I and Stage II restrictions throughout the year depending on weather. Before you burn anything, use fireworks, or have an outdoor fire, check this page for what's allowed right now. It also explains evacuation warnings and orders if wildfire ever threatens the area.
This is our local fire district, so it's the most relevant fire resource for Bent Grass. It shows the current burn restriction stage and includes a simple chart of what activities are and aren't permitted, plus information on burn permits. If you only check one fire page, make it this one.
An interactive map showing fire bans and restrictions across all of Colorado, maintained by the state's Division of Fire Prevention & Control. Useful if you're traveling around the state or want the bigger picture beyond our county — restrictions can differ from one county or national forest to the next, and this map shows them all in one place.
Colorado provides free, official tools to search for registered sex offenders in your area. These are maintained by law enforcement and updated regularly. We've linked the official sources below - always use these government registries rather than third-party "offender lookup" websites, which are often inaccurate or out of date.
Search the statewide registry by name, city, county, or ZIP:
Search locally, including by address with a 1, 2, 5, or 10-mile radius:
Search across all states:
Please read: This information is provided as a safety awareness tool only. Under Colorado law, using sex offender registry information to harass, threaten, intimidate, or retaliate against any registered person, their family, or their employer is prohibited and can result in criminal prosecution. The registries do not list every offender (for example, those convicted only of misdemeanor offenses or juveniles are not included), and information may not always be current - you should not rely on a registry alone for safety. If you believe a crime is being or about to be committed, call 911, or the non-emergency line at (719) 390-5555.
The county's main website, covering services that affect us directly — roads, public health, the assessor and property records, elections, and more. Since Bent Grass sits in unincorporated El Paso County, many local services come from the county rather than the city.
The county's online portal for reporting non-emergency concerns and requesting services — the county-level counterpart to GoCOS. Use this for issues on county-maintained roads and property.
The Assessor's office handles property values, ownership records, and the tax assessments behind your property tax bill. Use it to look up your property's assessed value, review your record details, find comparable sales, or learn about exemptions (like the senior and veteran property tax exemptions). If you ever want to understand or appeal your valuation, this is where to start.
Our metro district handles community amenities, and local services for the neighborhood. This is where to find official district news, board meeting schedules and minutes, covenant information, and contact details for district matters. For anything official about living in Bent Grass, start here.
The Bent Grass Metropolitan District is the local government entity that serves our neighborhood, and its official website is the best place to find board meeting schedules, agendas, minutes, financial reports, election information, and district contacts. The District's main job is to collect tax revenue to pay off the long-term debt that financed neighborhood infrastructure and to maintain certain neighborhood parks and entry features. The Board of Directors meets regularly and meetings are open to the public both in person and virtually, with day-to-day administration handled by WISDOM Management. For questions about your property, taxes, or covenant enforcement, contact the District Administrator directly through the site.
The city's main hub for services, news, and resources for the broader Colorado Springs area. Handy for city-wide information, programs, and links to departments — though note that some neighborhood matters fall under the county or metro district rather than the city.
The City of Colorado Springs' app and online tool for reporting issues directly to the city — things like potholes, streetlight outages, graffiti, and other non-emergency concerns. A quick way to flag a problem and have it routed to the right department.
An active, neighbor-run Facebook group for day-to-day conversation, quick questions, recommendations, and community chatter. It's separate from this website - if you're on Facebook, it's a great way to connect in real time:
A spot to buy, sell, and give away items within the neighborhood - furniture, kids' gear, free curb finds, and more. Keep the usual marketplace caution in mind when arranging pickups:
