Bent Grass Neighborhood is a resident-run, volunteer-managed communication project. We're not affiliated with any political party, campaign, religious organization, HOA, or metropolitan district. This page explains how we decide what to include in our newsletter, website, and other communications - so residents and contributors alike know what to expect from us.
We aim to be a politically, religiously, and culturally neutral resource for the neighborhood. We don't endorse candidates, campaigns, ballot measures, religious institutions, or advocacy causes, and we don't take sides on contested community issues. Our only test for including something is simple: is it likely to be useful or of interest to residents?
Elections & government: We share nonpartisan, factual information — voter registration deadlines, polling locations, official meeting notices and agendas. We don't publish content that advocates for a candidate, party, or ballot position.
Religious & cultural organizations: We're happy to list events hosted by religious or cultural groups — a food drive, a resource fair, a community meal — when they're open to and benefit the broader neighborhood. Listing an event isn't an endorsement of the host's beliefs, and choosing not to list one isn't a statement against them.
Local businesses & sponsors: Business mentions and sponsorships are neighbor services, not endorsements of a business's practices, ownership, or affiliations.
Development & growth topics: For proposed developments, schools, or other projects moving through county or district review, we share factual project information and links to the official review process, so residents can stay informed and form their own opinions.
Editorial discretion: We may decline or edit submissions that are inflammatory, discriminatory, deceptive, or written mainly to persuade rather than inform.
Because this policy applies neighborhood-wide, individual newsletter items, event listings, and sponsor mentions don't carry their own separate disclaimers. If you're curious how a specific listing fits our approach, this page is the explanation — we link back to it rather than repeating it every time.
We judge every submission on its content and purpose - never on who's submitting it. A request from any group, regardless of religion, political affiliation, or background, is held to the same standard.
Generally, we're glad to include an event if it's genuinely open to the neighborhood, described in a factual and welcoming way, and something residents would want to know about.
We'll typically ask for changes or decline a listing if it:
Promotes or campaigns for a candidate, party, or ballot measure
Excludes the public in a way tied to someone's background rather than serving a real, specific group (support groups and interest-based gatherings are always welcome)
Is really a sales pitch or recruitment effort dressed up as a community event
Involves something unsafe, illegal, or against local fire/HOA rules
Includes unverified claims, alarmist language, or targets a specific person or business
Isn't something Bent Grass residents could reasonably attend or benefit from
If you're ever unsure whether your event fits, reach out - we're happy to talk it through before you submit.
